mechatronic systemtechnik GmbH (mechatronic), a leading global supplier of automation equipment for critical wafer handling, has proudly announced the opening of its new cutting-edge technology center in Fürnitz. This significant investment, exceeding EUR 20 million in value, represents a major milestone in the company’s journey towards innovation and growth.

The new facility, spanning an impressive 6,500m2 across three storeys, features a progressive clean room and laboratory at its core. These state-of-the-art facilities are central to the planning, development, and production of mechatronic’s advanced systems, catering to the semiconductor industry’s evolving needs.

Founded in 1998, mechatronic specializes in addressing the semiconductor industry’s demand for reliable, safe, and fully automated handling of non-standard substrates. These substrates include stacked, thin, or warped wafers, as well as eWLP, MEMS, TAIKO, bumped, and film frames.

Over the last five years, mechatronic has achieved an impressive average annual growth rate of 20%. The opening of the new technology center reflects the company’s commitment to meeting burgeoning customer demand and facilitating future development. In a strategic move to enhance operational capacity, the management team opted to relocate to Fürnitz from its previous site in Villach.

Mr Walter Schober, CEO and Founder of mechatronic, expressed excitement about the capabilities of the new facility, stating, “The Technology Center not only expands our production capacity but also underscores our dedication to sustainable practices.”

Environmental sustainability was a key priority in the design of the technology center. The building incorporates innovative heating and cooling methods, including underfloor heating combined with heat recovery and concrete core activation. Additionally, workspaces are equipped with a lighting control system that mimics natural daylight, promoting a conducive and productive work environment. Furthermore, the facility features a solar photovoltaic (PV) system on its roof, demonstrating mechatronic’s commitment to green technology and its goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions.

The official opening of the technology center marks a significant milestone for mechatronic, reinforcing its position as a global leader in semiconductor handling solutions.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Philip Yeo, Chairman of Accuron Technologies, remarked, “This new Technology Center is a milestone for both mechatronic and the Accuron Group. It demonstrates our long-term commitment to subsidiaries, employees, and host countries. We look forward to celebrating mechatronic’s achievements and industry contributions in the years ahead.”
