Mayr Power Transmission has officially inaugurated its new production plant in Halol, near Vadodara, Gujarat, marking a significant step in the company’s evolution. This expansion follows a longstanding partnership with a local dealer that dates back to the 1990s. With this new plant, the company can now manufacture safety brakes, clutches, and other components locally, providing customers in India with greater access to their high-quality products.
The company, which has been in operation for 125 years, has previously established plants in Germany, Poland, and China. The Halol plant, which opened in late 2024, represents its fourth global production site. “While we’ve had a successful sales partnership in India for over three decades, the new plant is the logical next step,” said Thomas Gebler, Director of Sales for Mayr India.
Mayr’s decision to manufacture products in India directly aims to offer competitive pricing and enhanced service to the rapidly growing market. CEO Ferdinand Mayr emphasized that the goal is to create value locally while serving the increasing demand for high-tech solutions in sectors like robotics and medical technology. “The global economy is constantly evolving, and market management has become more challenging,” said Mayr, noting that the Indian market has now firmly entered the high-tech segment.
Mayr Power Transmission prides itself on upholding rigorous quality standards across its global operations. Christian Tanner, Director of Operations for Mayr India, explained that the company’s use of the same testing equipment across all sites ensures consistent quality while also allowing for cost efficiency in local markets. Gebler added, “This collaboration between our Bavarian roots and our Indian team’s determination creates a powerful combination, enabling us to lead in one of the fastest-growing markets in the world.”
