Matternet, a developer of autonomous aerial logistics solutions, has announced a new operational partnership with Beeline UAS to support the expansion of its commercial drone delivery network across the United States. Under the agreement, Beeline UAS will operate Matternet’s drone delivery platform under its Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 135 air carrier certificate, strengthening the company’s operational footprint in key US markets.
With the addition of Beeline, Matternet expands its network of FAA Part 135 operating partners, joining Ameriflight and UPS Flight Forward. The collaboration is expected to enhance the company’s capacity to deploy drone delivery services at scale while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
The initial phase of the partnership will focus on expanding Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Los Angeles metropolitan region. These urban markets present significant opportunities for drone-based logistics, where traffic congestion and high transportation costs often affect the timely movement of goods. The expanded operations will support Matternet’s delivery services for customers in the healthcare, food and retail sectors, enabling faster transportation of time-sensitive shipments.
Commenting on the partnership, Andreas Raptopoulos, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Matternet, said the addition of Beeline UAS would strengthen the company’s operating network and support its long-term strategy of expanding commercial drone delivery services. He noted that a combination of advanced technology and experienced operating partners is essential for safely managing and scaling autonomous aircraft operations across multiple markets.
Toby Woods, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Beeline UAS, said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing safe, compliant and scalable drone operations. He added that the partnership would help extend the benefits of drone delivery to more communities while supporting the growing demand for efficient logistics solutions.
Matternet’s multi-operator model is designed to provide greater operational flexibility, broader geographic coverage and the capacity required for commercial expansion. The company develops integrated drone delivery systems, including aircraft, ground stations and software platforms, and has recorded more than 60,000 commercial drone flights across the United States and Europe. It has also achieved several industry milestones, including FAA Type Certification and Production Certification for its drone platform.
Beeline UAS specialises in providing operational infrastructure and regulatory support for commercial unmanned aerial systems. Operating under its FAA Part 135 certificate, the company enables large-scale drone logistics operations through compliant and scalable service models, helping accelerate the adoption of drone delivery across the United States.
