MATTER today announced the launch of India’s first AI-Defined Vehicle (AIDV) platform at Technology Day 3.0, positioning the company at the forefront of next-generation electric two-wheeler engineering. The company stated that the AIDV platform represents a major evolution in vehicle architecture, shifting the industry from static, hardware-driven development toward intelligence-led systems designed to improve continuously over the vehicle lifecycle.
With the unveiling, MATTER reaffirmed its intent to lead the next phase of India’s two-wheeler transformation by placing intelligence at the center of vehicle performance, safety, efficiency, and long-term ownership value. The company emphasized that AI-defined architecture goes beyond connectivity and software updates, embedding decision-making intelligence directly into the control and operating layers of the vehicle. According to MATTER, this enables systems to adapt dynamically in real-world conditions, improving consistency of output and enhancing the rider experience through personalization and adaptive behavior.
MATTER explained that as two-wheelers have progressed from mechanically defined systems to electronic controls and then to software-defined platforms, the introduction of AI-defined vehicles signals the next leap forward. The company described AIDVs as vehicles that can evolve over time, improving capability without being limited to factory settings. This approach supports real-time optimization of torque delivery, energy efficiency, thermal performance under load, and predictive diagnostics designed to reduce lifetime ownership costs.
The company noted that its transition toward intelligent vehicles builds on progress already demonstrated through MATTER AERA, which it described as a software-defined platform enhanced over time through over-the-air updates. MATTER referenced key engineering outcomes achieved through AERA, including its Hypershift™ gearbox experience for rider control, liquid-cooled motor and battery systems supporting improved thermal headroom, embedded controls integrating advanced motor management, and innovations in cell and battery pack engineering focused on durability and serviceability.
MATTER also outlined its approach to combining intelligence with material innovation, highlighting work on rare-earth-free motor architectures, adaptive drive systems, next-generation semiconductor and sensor strategies, and cell-level intelligence designed to improve battery life and long-term consistency. The company added that its domain-integrated compute and zonal architecture supports scalable intelligence across the vehicle while reducing dependency on multiple isolated control units.
Mohal Lalbhai, Founder and Group CEO, MATTER, said the platform marks a permanent shift in how two-wheelers will be defined going forward, enabling vehicles to outperform their starting point through embedded intelligence. Kumar Prasad Tellikepalli, Founder and Group CTO, MATTER, added that AIDVs help accelerate development cycles while enabling vehicles to learn from real-world usage and improve reliability through continuous refinement.
MATTER announced that the AIDV platform will support a product expansion roadmap over the next 36 to 48 months across five major segments, including motorcycles and scooters, powered by a shared hardware, software, compute, and data backbone. The company also reported over 400 innovations and 97 granted patents, reinforcing its long-term deep-technology foundation.
