Mathias Miedreich Appointed to ZF Board of Management

ZF Friedrichshafen AG has announced the appointment of Mathias Miedreich, 49, to its Board of Management, effective January 1, 2025. He will oversee the Electrified Powertrain Technology division. Miedreich brings extensive experience in the automotive sector, having graduated with a Business Administration degree from Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

He has held various management positions at Siemens, Continental, and Faurecia, both in Germany and internationally. Most recently, he served as the CEO of Umicore, a Brussels-based company specializing in materials technology and the circular economy, until May 2024.

Dr Heinrich Hiesinger, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, praised Miedreich’s appointment, stating, “By adding Mathias Miedreich to our Board of Management, we are enhancing our team, which is effectively working to realign ZF for greater competitiveness. As he takes on leadership of the Electrified Powertrain Technology Division, he faces significant challenges in the shift toward electric mobility. His understanding of our customers, global value chains, and the demands for sustainable mobility will be invaluable. We wish him great success in his new role.”

Andreas Brand, Chairman of the Zeppelin Foundation—which owns 93.8 percent of the company shares—expressed confidence in Miedreich’s capabilities, saying, “With his automotive and electric mobility expertise, we believe Mathias Miedreich will be a significant asset to ZF. His appointment aligns with our strategic objectives to adapt this division to evolving market needs and technological advancements.”
