The Suzuki Fronx is currently the sole Suzuki vehicle manufactured in India and available for sale in Japan. This model, produced at Suzuki’s Gujarat facility, is distinguished by its use of a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild hybrid technology, a notable upgrade from the 1.2-litre petrol engine found in the versions sold within India.
Additionally, the Indian market version of the Fronx offers a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine. This vehicle is being shipped to various international markets in both left-hand and right-hand drive configurations. Maruti Suzuki, recognized as the leading exporter of domestically produced passenger vehicles in India, achieved a significant milestone by exporting over 2.8 lakh units during the fiscal year 2023-24.
The company set a new record in the first quarter of FY 2024-25, exporting an impressive 70,560 units, the highest ever recorded for any first quarter in the company’s history. Maruti Suzuki India commenced FY25 on a strong note with a total of 69,962 units exported, reflecting an 11% increase, positioning it 27,362 units ahead of Hyundai Motor India for the first quarter of FY25.
Maruti Suzuki’s export strategy encompasses nearly 100 countries, with Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East identified as key markets. The company exports a diverse range of models, including cars, SUVs, and MPVs, with the Grand Vitara and Fronx being the latest additions to its export lineup.
Among the Maruti Suzuki vehicles with the highest demand in international markets are the Dzire sedan, Swift, S-Presso, Baleno hatchbacks, and the Brezza SUV. In Japan, the Fronx will compete against notable rivals such as the Honda HR-V and Toyota Yaris Cross, further highlighting its growing global presence and the expansion of Maruti Suzuki’s international footprint.
