Marposs has strongly advocated investing in India’s industrial and production sectors since 1981. Initially, the company’s presence in India was largely commercial, relying on partnerships, distributors, and sales agents to extend its reach. However, recognizing the immense potential of India’s growing manufacturing capabilities, Marposs took a significant step in 2007 by establishing a direct branch in Delhi. In 2008, the company further expanded by opening offices and service centres in Gurgaon. Marposs India operates through six local offices in major industrial hubs such as Manesar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Jamshedpur, Pune, and Bangalore.

The company’s operations in India have grown substantially, with a turnover expected to reach 20 million euros by the end of 2024 and a workforce of 120 employees. The automotive sector remains the company’s largest market, accounting for about 50% of its turnover, while the remainder is divided between mechanical components and machine tool applications. Marposs plans to focus its growth in emerging sectors such as semiconductors, consumer electronics, aerospace, and electric vehicle (EV) batteries. Over the next five years, these areas are expected to play a critical role in the company’s growth strategy, as India strengthens its position in these high-tech industries.

Francesco Possati, General Manager and Vice President of Marposs Headquarters, spoke at the inauguration, highlighting the immense potential Marposs sees in India. He noted that, in recent discussions between the President of the European Commission and the Prime Minister of India, the focus was on developing a reliable and secure value chain, particularly in the semiconductor, e-mobility, and space sectors.

The new tech center, according to Possati, is specifically designed to support this effort, marking a significant step toward expanding Marposs’ R&D capabilities in these high-demand industries. This tech center will become the second in the world, after California, focused on specific research and development activities in semiconductors, consumer electronics, leak testing on EV batteries, and advanced quality control technologies for aerospace components.

The increasing stringency of regulatory and compliance standards across industries has created a heightened demand for advanced measurement and inspection technologies. Manufacturers worldwide are striving to meet the most demanding quality requirements, which, in turn, is driving the need for precise measurement and control solutions—an area where Marposs excels. As a result, Marposs continues to position itself as an undisputed leader in precision measurement, offering innovative solutions that improve and optimize production processes for customers across a variety of industries.

Marposs has already established numerous relationships with local industries, government institutions, and research organizations in India. These partnerships aim to foster innovation and develop solutions tailored specifically to the Indian market. Additionally, the company serves as a trusted partner to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in India’s automotive sector, further solidifying its presence in the country’s industrial ecosystem.

The strengths that Marposs brings to India are numerous. The company possesses deep expertise in sectors such as consumer electronics, electric vehicles, semiconductors, machine tools, and biomedical engineering, all of which are poised for significant growth in India. Marposs’ advanced technology ensures the quality and precision necessary to improve and optimize production processes, offering manufacturers in India the tools they need to stay competitive in the global market. The company’s well-established and widespread distribution network across India guarantees timely support and service, while its ability to offer customized solutions, comprehensive assistance, and training helps build long-lasting relationships with its customers, fostering loyalty in the process.

Founded in 1952 and led by Stefano Possati, Marposs has consistently stood out as a leader in the field of quality control solutions. The company’s core expertise spans from the precision measurement of mechanical components before, during, and after the machining process, to the inspection of machine tool conditions and processes. Marposs is also known for its leak testing technologies across all industrial sectors, as well as its automatic assembly and control lines.

The company has become a primary supplier to major automotive manufacturers as they transition to electric mobility, as well as serving industries such as aerospace, biomedical, consumer electronics, semiconductors, and glass manufacturing. With over 3,500 employees worldwide and a presence in 34 countries through more than 80 offices, Marposs continues to innovate and support industries around the globe.
