Marelli, a key technology supplier to the global automotive sector, is set to showcase its latest advancements at Auto Shanghai 2025 with a spotlight on its modular platform strategy. Designed to streamline product development and bring innovations to market faster, the approach allows flexible integration across vehicle categories. At the event, Marelli will introduce several new technologies built on this foundation, including the LeanEnergy battery management system, the LeanSuspension damping solution, and a new version of its ProDisplay interface.

Marelli’s platform strategy features three tiers—Lean, Pro, and Elite—each built with a high level of pre-developed technology that can be customized to meet specific automaker needs. This structure is aimed at reducing development time and supporting a wide range of market segments.

The Lean platform is designed for simplicity and cost-efficiency, offering lightweight, eco-friendly solutions suitable for entry-level vehicles without sacrificing core performance. Technologies under this platform focus on reducing weight, improving energy efficiency, and minimizing component complexity.

The Pro platform brings scalable options tailored for electric vehicles and mid-range models, balancing affordability with advanced features. At the top end, the Elite platform is reserved for high-performance and luxury applications, delivering next-generation technologies that push design and functionality boundaries.

One of the highlights at the show will be the LeanEnergy battery management system, engineered with a centralized layout that links all battery cells to a single control board. This setup supports packs of up to 108 cells and is well-suited for mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and small battery-electric vehicles. It combines both high- and low-voltage circuits on the same board while maintaining safety through electrical isolation. Marelli has been mass-producing battery systems since 2010, showing proven reliability in this field.

Also debuting is LeanSuspension, an evolution of the company’s smart damping technology. This system uses a single electronic valve to control rebound and compression in real-time—achieving performance similar to more complex dual-valve setups. The result is a lighter, more cost-effective suspension system that maintains ride quality and control, especially beneficial in mid-range vehicle models.

Marelli will also debut a new use case for its ProDisplay technology—this time integrated behind a vehicle’s door panel. The screen remains hidden when not in use and becomes visible only when activated, contributing to a sleek, minimalist interior design.

This hidden-display concept is intended to blend style with smart functionality, giving automakers new ways to rethink cabin aesthetics. In addition, the company will present a large-format version of ProDisplay, designed to enhance in-car entertainment. Featuring central and passenger screens with vivid visuals and responsive touch, this system aims to improve the overall driving and riding experience.
