Marelli has entered into a two-year partnership with the Nissan Formula E Team, providing its technical expertise to support the team’s racing efforts in the all-electric championship. With a century-long legacy in both automotive and motorsport innovation, Marelli is committed to advancing mobility solutions through collaboration.

This partnership enables the Nissan Formula E Team to tap into Marelli Motorsport’s industry-leading knowledge, particularly in vehicle development, while showcasing Marelli’s capabilities in electrified motorsport.

As part of the collaboration, Marelli’s branding will feature prominently on the rear wing of the Nissan e-4ORCE 05 cars, the team’s garage, and across various marketing platforms. Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director and Team Principal of the Nissan Formula E Team, expressed his excitement about Marelli’s involvement, noting the valuable expertise it brings, especially in control systems development. He highlighted the shared focus on collaboration as a key aspect of the partnership.

Riccardo De Filippi, Head of Marelli Motorsport, also shared his enthusiasm, stating that the company is eager to expand its relationship with Nissan, with a particular emphasis on strengthening both the motorsport and road car segments. He looks forward to supporting the team’s development with Marelli’s technical input.

Formula E, launched in 2014, is a premier electric racing series designed to promote sustainable mobility. With races in global cities such as Berlin, Rome, and New York, the series serves as a testing ground for electric vehicle technologies, driving innovation in areas like battery efficiency and electric power management.

Nissan entered the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in Season 5 (2018/19), making history as the first and only Japanese manufacturer in the all-electric racing series. In Season 7 (2020/21), Nissan confirmed its long-term commitment to Formula E, extending through the Gen3 era, which spans Season 9 (2022/23) to Season 12 (2025/26).

In April 2022, Nissan took full control of its Formula E participation by acquiring the e.dams race team. Just two months later, Nissan announced a partnership to supply its EV powertrain technology to McLaren Racing for the entire Gen3 era.

Looking to Season 10, Nissan’s Formula E drivers will include Oliver Rowland and Sacha Fenestraz. Ahead of the inaugural Tokyo E-Prix, Nissan reaffirmed its dedication to Formula E on March 28, 2024, by becoming the first manufacturer to commit to the Gen4 era, which extends to 2030. This aligns with Nissan’s Ambition 2030 goals for electrification.

Through its Formula E involvement, Nissan aims to inspire a global audience with the thrill of zero-emission vehicles, while advancing toward carbon neutrality by 2050. The company plans to electrify all new models in key markets by the early 2030s, leveraging race-proven insights to enhance its electric vehicle technology for everyday customers.
