MAN Truck & Bus is set to debut a new 12-tonne electric truck, the eTGL, at the IAA Transportation show in Hannover in mid-September. This addition complements its existing electric range, including the eTGX for long-haul transport and the eTGS for distribution. The eTGL is designed for light urban logistics, particularly serving food chains, retailers, and catering services. It offers a 4.50-metre wheelbase and supports body lengths between 6.20 and 7.30 metres, with a payload capacity of up to 6.6 tonnes.

MAN’s CEO, Alexander Vlaskamp, highlighted that the eTGL enhances the company’s zero-emission solutions portfolio, providing efficient, high-payload options with short charging times, ideal for city logistics. The new truck is powered by two battery packs with a combined capacity of 160 kWh, offering a range of 235 kilometres on a single charge. Charging from 10% to 80% takes around 30 minutes with a CCS connection at up to 250 kW.

The eTGL features a day cab designed for frequent stops, equipped with a fully digital 12.3-inch display for monitoring battery status, energy use, and driving data. MAN plans to have half of its European truck registrations as fully electric by 2030. Through its Milence joint venture with Daimler Truck and Volvo Group, the company is also working on expanding truck charging infrastructure while preparing its service network for electric models.
