Switch Mobility, Ashok Leyland’s electric mobility arm, has announced that Mahesh Babu will take on two new roles with immediate effect: Chief Operating Officer of Switch Mobility Ltd and CEO of Switch Mobility, India.
Mahesh Babu has over 25 years of expertise in mobility and joins Switch from Mahindra Electric, where he was the Managing Director and CEO. Mahindra Electric introduced six new electric vehicles, including three-wheeler and four-wheeler commercial vehicles, as well as the NEMO software platform, under his supervision.
The XUV500, India’s first monocoque SUV, was one of his most notable undertakings. Furthermore, he has played an important role in determining India’s future mobility policy by delivering electric TCO solutions through ground-breaking efforts in passenger vehicles, commercial fleets, and last-mile mobility. He actively participated in numerous EV committees of both the national and state governments, as well as the CII and FICCI.
He was the Chairman of the Electric Mobility Group at SIAM, the APEX Automotive Association of India, until recently. This important appointment is the latest in a succession of high-profile leadership appointments at Switch Mobility, which is working to establish a global leadership position in net zero carbon buses and light commercial vehicles.
