Lupin Manufacturing Solutions (LMS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Lupin Limited, has inaugurated a specialized Oncology Block at its manufacturing campus in Visakhapatnam, India. This high-containment facility marks a major step in strengthening LMS’s global Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) portfolio for high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredients (HPAPIs). The new unit will cater to oncology innovators across all development stages—from early research through to large-scale commercial production—responding to the growing worldwide demand for cancer therapies.
Covering an area of 4,270 square meters, the Vizag Oncology Block is equipped with 20 reactors ranging from 250 to 2000 liters and features over 20 isolators for maximum containment, achieving exposure levels of ≤0.05 µg/m³. Designed for operational flexibility, the facility supports batch sizes from 1 to 35 kilograms under tightly controlled environmental conditions (≤25°C, ≤45% RH). These advanced features ensure high-quality, safe, and compliant production of oncology APIs that meet stringent global regulatory standards.

The new Oncology Block integrates a Process Development Laboratory and a Quality Control Laboratory, enabling seamless execution of route scouting, analytical development, process optimization, and validation—all within a single site. Staffed by scientists with deep HPAPI expertise, the facility ensures smooth transition from laboratory-scale development to full commercial production.
Equipped with isolator-based operations for every process stage, the site also employs advanced SCADA automation systems and an effluent detoxification setup that aligns with international environmental and regulatory standards. These measures reflect Lupin’s strong commitment to quality, safety, and sustainability across its global operations.
