Lupin Limited has announced that its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets have been formally validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), covering Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. The validation confirms alignment with the Paris Agreement’s objective of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C and places Lupin among a select group of companies to achieve full-scope validation within a year of setting its targets.

Under its approved targets, Lupin aims to cut absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42 percent by FY 2030 compared to a FY 2023 baseline. The company also plans to reduce Scope 3 emissions by 61.07 percent by FY 2033, addressing emissions across purchased goods and services, logistics, energy-related activities, travel, commuting, product use, and franchises, using FY 2024 as the reference year.

Ramesh Swaminathan, Executive Director, Global CFO and Head of IT and API Plus SBU at Lupin, said the validation reflects the company’s science-led approach to sustainability. He noted that the targets are embedded into Lupin’s financial and operational planning, guiding investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon technologies across its global footprint.
