Luminous Power Technologies, a leader in energy solutions, has expanded its manufacturing capabilities with a state-of-the-art production facility for lead-acid batteries in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Spanning 8 acres in the SIDCUL Industrial Estate, this facility is strategically positioned to meet the growing demand for power storage solutions in both domestic and export markets. Setting new industry benchmarks, the plant incorporates sustainable production practices, including 3,036 solar panels generating 1MW of solar power—the second-largest industrial rooftop installation in Uttarakhand.
The Haridwar plant introduces the industry’s first-ever green positive plate manufacturing, utilizing 100% grey oxide through a wet paste filling process for industrial batteries. Key technological advancements include an acid circulation system, a high-speed automatic battery assembly line twice as fast as conventional lines, and water-efficient processes that enable rapid battery charging. The facility integrates a smart factory interface, offering real-time monitoring of stock, production, and a digital dashboard for enhanced operational efficiency. Additionally, it features DOJO, an innovative learning center designed to upskill employees at all levels.
With an annual production capacity of 1.5–2GWh of power backup solutions, the facility employs LEAN manufacturing principles and automation, ensuring consistent quality and optimized production cycles. A dedicated Lead Acid & Alternative Chemistry Laboratory within the plant will drive innovation in sustainable energy storage solutions.
This expansion strengthens Luminous’ position as a leader in the power storage industry while contributing to regional employment and economic growth.
