Lubrizol is deepening its investment in India by launching a cutting-edge Technology and Innovation Center in Maharashtra. The first of its kind for the company globally, this state-of-the-art facility aims to drive breakthrough innovations, foster collaboration, and accelerate time-to-market for Lubrizol and its customers across various industries worldwide.

Designed to enhance innovation, the center will co-locate laboratory capabilities and build upon the successes of existing regional Technology Centers of Excellence (COEs). It will also feature a Customer Experience Center, enabling collaborative co-development of solutions with customers and partners. Advanced analytical tools, automation, and digital technologies will support research initiatives, empowering teams to leverage decision science for next-generation solutions.

“Lubrizol has been a leader in innovation for nearly 100 years, and this new center underscores our ongoing commitment to advancing innovation in India,” said Bhavana Bindra, Managing Director of Lubrizol India, Middle East, and Africa. “The Technology and Innovation Center will play a pivotal role in driving collaboration and technological advancement, helping us serve our teams and customers more effectively.”

Dr.Rahul Misra, Senior Director of Technology for Lubrizol in India, Middle East, and Africa, highlighted the strategic importance of the center: “Located in Maharashtra, this innovation hub will be close to key stakeholders, enabling us to foster operational efficiencies and enhance our research and development capabilities. By integrating our legacy innovation with advanced technology, we aim to take our solutions to the next level.”

Rebecca Liebert, Lubrizol’s President and CEO, added, “This center will be a model for future global facilities, reinforcing our strategy of interconnected innovation centers worldwide. The innovation teams in India have already achieved remarkable successes, including earning global customer innovation awards, and we expect this new center to build on that momentum.”

Lubrizol’s ongoing investment in local R&D reflects its long-standing legacy in India. For instance, Lubrizol introduced CPVC piping to the Indian market 25 years ago, improving access to clean drinking water for thousands. Today, India leads the world in CPVC technology. Other innovations include the India Bar Soap COE, which has improved the durability and sustainability of bar soap, earning recognition from global brands. The company is also addressing emerging trends in transportation with a focus on next-generation additive solutions.

This announcement is part of Lubrizol’s broader commitment to India, with over $350 million invested in the region in the last 18 months. The company’s growth in India includes plans for a new, large manufacturing facility to support the growing transportation and industrial markets and a collaboration to build the world’s largest CPVC resin plant. Additionally, Lubrizol has expanded its presence in Pune and Gujarat, further strengthening its capabilities in the region.
