Lubrizol, in collaboration with Grasim Industries Limited, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) resin manufacturing facility in Vilayat, Gujarat, strengthening India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities for high-performance piping and plumbing materials. The new plant, combined with the recently expanded CPVC compounding operations at Lubrizol’s Dahej facility, establishes one of the country’s most comprehensive and scalable CPVC production ecosystems. The integrated manufacturing footprint is designed to support India’s growing infrastructure requirements while enhancing supply chain reliability for critical construction and industrial applications.

The facility will manufacture high-quality CPVC resin used in pipes and fittings across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. By increasing local production capacity, the project is expected to improve product availability, reduce dependence on imports, and support infrastructure development initiatives focused on water management, sanitation, and urban expansion.

Abhishek Shrivastav, Managing Director, Lubrizol IMEA, said the commissioning of the Vilayat facility represents a significant milestone in the company’s long-standing presence in India. He noted that the investment reflects Lubrizol’s commitment to a local-for-local manufacturing approach, enabling customers to benefit from consistent access to world-class materials produced within the country while maintaining the company’s global standards of quality and innovation.

Jayant V Dhobley, Business Head and CEO, Global Chemicals, Aditya Birla Group, highlighted the collaboration between Lubrizol’s technology expertise and Grasim’s manufacturing capabilities. He said the partnership strengthens India’s ability to develop scalable specialty chemical manufacturing infrastructure while delivering reliable CPVC materials to support growing market demand.

CPVC is widely recognized for its superior heat resistance, corrosion resistance, durability, and hygienic properties. These characteristics make it a preferred material for hot and cold water systems, fire sprinkler networks, HVAC installations, and industrial fluid-handling applications where long service life and dependable performance are essential.

The inauguration also reflects Lubrizol’s broader investment strategy in India. Recent initiatives include the expansion of its CPVC compounding capacity in Dahej, the establishment of a Global Capabilities Center in Pune, enhancements to its Mumbai operations, and plans for a dedicated innovation center focused on advancing material science and product development.

Lubrizol IMEA serves high-growth markets across India, the Middle East and Africa, supported by corporate offices, a global capabilities center and manufacturing sites in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The region follows a strong local-for-local strategy, combining technical expertise with regional insights to drive innovation through targeted investments and partnerships.
