Lumosa Therapeutics (6535.TWO) has reported positive outcomes from two Phase 2 clinical trials evaluating LT3001 (Odatroltide), a novel therapy for acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The results were presented at the International Stroke Conference in New Orleans.
LT3001 is designed as a dual-action treatment that promotes safe reperfusion while providing neuroprotection. The therapy enhances natural clot-dissolving processes and neutralises harmful free radicals, addressing limitations associated with current stroke treatments.
In the LT3001-202 trial conducted in China, moderate stroke patients with disabling symptoms achieved improved functional outcomes compared to placebo. Patients treated with LT3001 recorded higher modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores of 0–1 and 0–2. The study also demonstrated favourable outcomes in large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) and mismatch-positive patient groups.
The complementary LT3001-205 study, conducted across the United States, Europe and Taiwan, incorporated imaging-assisted patient selection. Despite a smaller cohort, the study reinforced efficacy signals, with a higher proportion of patients achieving improved functional recovery compared to placebo.
Across both trials, LT3001 demonstrated a favourable safety profile with no increase in symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage despite multi-day dosing. Investigators noted the therapy’s potential utility beyond conventional thrombolytic time windows, particularly for patients ineligible for IV thrombolysis or endovascular treatment.
Acute ischemic stroke accounts for approximately 85 percent of global stroke cases and remains a leading cause of death and long-term disability. Many patients are unable to access or benefit from existing reperfusion therapies due to time or medical limitations.
Both Phase 2 trials were randomised and placebo-controlled, enrolling 297 and 88 patients respectively. Consistent signals across geographic regions and patient selection methods support continued clinical advancement.
LT3001 targets both thrombotic and oxidative injury pathways, potentially broadening treatment eligibility and extending therapeutic windows. Lumosa plans to progress into Phase 3 trials following regulatory feedback in the United States.
