Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured two major construction orders in India through its Public Spaces, Airports & Health (PAH) business vertical. The projects, awarded by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and the Government of Andhra Pradesh, involve government office infrastructure in New Delhi and Amaravati.
The first order, awarded by CPWD, covers the construction of Common Central Secretariat buildings 4 and 5 along Kartavya Path in New Delhi. The project will be executed on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis and comprises two buildings, each configured with a basement, ground floor and seven upper floors.
The two buildings will have a combined built-up area of 32.8 lakh square feet. L&T’s scope includes structural and architectural works, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems, and external development. The project is scheduled for completion within 24 months, followed by a five-year operation and maintenance period.
The second order has been awarded by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the construction of two office towers on either side of the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre in Amaravati. The towers will each have a basement, ground floor and 47 floors, with a combined built-up area of 37.5 lakh square feet. Under the design-and-build contract, L&T will undertake shell and core construction. The project is scheduled for completion within 30 months.
The two projects add to L&T’s portfolio of government infrastructure developments and involve large-scale construction requiring coordination across structural engineering, building systems and project execution. The Common Central Secretariat buildings will form part of the government office infrastructure along Kartavya Path, while the Amaravati towers will be developed alongside the state’s planned quantum computing centre. L&T’s PAH business vertical undertakes projects involving public spaces, airports and healthcare facilities, along with other specialised buildings. The business has experience in delivering customised infrastructure projects in India and overseas.
The latest contracts reflect the role of EPC contractors in delivering large public infrastructure projects, where construction, building services and external development must be coordinated within defined timelines. L&T will be responsible for the specified construction and associated works under the respective contracts.
