Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Metals & Minerals (M&M) business vertical has secured multiple significant orders from leading domestic metals and mining companies, strengthening its position as a trusted engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner across the metals and minerals value chain. The order wins span the mining, ferrous and non-ferrous sectors and highlight L&T’s expertise in executing large-scale, complex industrial projects that support India’s growing infrastructure and manufacturing ambitions.
The first order has been awarded by a public sector enterprise and India’s largest iron ore producer as part of its strategic expansion programme to achieve an iron ore production capacity of 100 MTPA by 2030. L&T has received Package #BE-01C for the 18 MTPA Iron Ore Handling Plant in Chhattisgarh.
The scope of work includes design and engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of a downhill conveyor system, screening plant, stockpile facilities, yard equipment, Rapid Wagon Loading System (RWLS), and associated auxiliary systems. L&T has also secured multiple Design & Build and Balance of Plant (BoP) packages from another public sector Navratna company undertaking the expansion of its steel plant in West Bengal. The expansion will increase the plant’s capacity from 2.5 MTPA to 7.1 MTPA, further contributing to India’s steel production growth.
In the non-ferrous segment, L&T continues its long-standing association with a leading private sector metals producer with the award of an EPC order for a zinc processing plant. The project scope includes design and engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning and associated site services, reinforcing L&T’s capabilities in delivering advanced metallurgical projects.
Commenting on the order wins, S N Subrahmanyan, Chairman & Managing Director, L&T, said, “These orders reaffirm L&T’s leadership in the metals and minerals EPC sector and reflect the confidence customers place in our ability to execute projects of scale and complexity. As India continues to invest in strengthening its metals and minerals capacity to support economic growth, L&T remains committed to partnering with leading enterprises in building world-class industrial infrastructure.”
T Kumaresan, Senior Vice President & Head – Utilities & Metals, L&T, added, “These orders across mining, ferrous and non-ferrous sectors demonstrate our customers’ continued confidence in L&T’s engineering capabilities and project execution expertise. They further strengthen our role as a preferred partner in developing India’s metals and minerals ecosystem. We remain focused on delivering projects with the highest standards of quality, safety and sustainability.”
