L&T Secures Major Contract for Agra Metro Construction with 60-Month Deadline

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a prominent engineering and construction firm, announced on Wednesday that it has obtained a significant contract from the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (UPMRCL) for the design and construction of the Agra Metro project.

The order was awarded to L&T’s heavy civil infrastructure division, as stated in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The company categorizes a “significant order” as one valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore.

According to the filing, the company has “secured an order from Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (UPMRCL) for the design and construction of Agra Metro Phase 1, Line-2.” This line will connect Agra Cantonment to Kalindi Vihar. This project is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing urban mobility in Agra and is set to be completed within 30 months.
