Marking a significant achievement in India’s civil nuclear programme, L&T Heavy Engineering has dispatched a Steam Generator for the Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana (GHAVP) in Fatehabad, Haryana. The unit was ceremonially flagged off from L&T’s state-of-the-art Hazira facility in the presence of NPCIL Chairman & Managing Director Bhuwan Chandra Pathak, Director (Technical) Rajesh Veeraraghavan, and senior officials from NPCIL and L&T.

This is the first of four Steam Generators being manufactured by L&T for GHAVP Units 3 & 4. Notably, the dispatch was completed seven months ahead of schedule, underscoring L&T’s track record of precision, reliability, and timely execution in nuclear manufacturing. GHAVP 3 & 4 form part of the fleet of ten indigenous 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) currently being developed by NPCIL across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, NPCIL CMD Mr Pathak commended L&T’s contribution: “With remarkable advances in technology and execution speed, L&T Heavy Engineering has demonstrated industry readiness to manufacture critical equipment for nuclear power plants—an important step toward achieving India’s 100 GWe target by 2047.”

Anil V Parab, Whole-time Director & Senior EVP, L&T, added: “With its end-to-end capabilities, Heavy Engineering continues to lead in nuclear component manufacturing and will play a major role in India’s nuclear growth programme under Viksit Bharat 2047.”

With this achievement, L&T has set a global benchmark, delivering a Steam Generator in just 33 months. To date, the company has supplied five Steam Generators for NPCIL’s 10 × 700 MWe fleet programme, reinforcing its leadership in high-technology nuclear manufacturing.
