LONGi, a leading name in global solar photovoltaic (PV) technology, has launched a major initiative to establish a cutting-edge solar panel production facility in Indonesia. This project is a result of a collaboration with Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), a subsidiary of Indonesia’s state-owned Pertamina. The partnership highlights a shared vision to boost renewable energy use in Southeast Asia and support Indonesia’s ambitious energy transition goals.
The new manufacturing facility will be located in Deltamas, West Java, and will have an annual production capacity of 1.6 gigawatts (GW). The facility will utilize LONGi’s advanced Hybrid Passivated Back Contact (HPBC) 2.0 technology to produce high-efficiency solar modules. Production is slated to begin in June 2025, providing a significant boost to Indonesia’s solar PV manufacturing capacity.
This collaboration marks a key step in reinforcing Indonesia’s renewable energy supply chain. By combining LONGi’s global leadership in solar technology with Pertamina NRE’s local market expertise, the project will also contribute to the improvement of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN), aligning with the Indonesian government’s push for more local content in renewable energy projects. In addition, the new facility will help meet the growing demand for high-quality solar PV modules in both the domestic market and across Southeast Asia.
Indonesia’s 2025-2034 RUPTL (Electricity Supply Business Plan) outlines a target of 17.1GW of new PV installations over the next decade, signaling a rising demand for solar technology. The launch of this facility is well-timed to support this goal, boosting the local PV industry and meeting the regional market needs. It also plays a crucial role in advancing the level of localized manufacturing in Indonesia, helping the country make steady progress in developing its solar energy sector.
At the launch event, Mr. Dennis She, Vice President of LONGi Group, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable energy development: “Indonesia has incredible potential in renewable energy, and we are excited to bring our world-leading solar technology to accelerate this transformation. This facility is not just an investment in manufacturing but a long-term partnership that will help drive down costs, foster innovation, and create high-value green jobs, all in support of a net-zero future.”
As a global leader in solar technology, LONGi is helping cement Indonesia’s position as a major player in the renewable energy sector. This partnership represents a significant step toward achieving sustainable energy goals, with a focus on innovation, local collaboration, and a greener future.
