Ahead of the peak summer season, LG Electronics India Limited (LGEIL)—recognised as the Most Trusted Brand in the Electronics segment—has announced the launch of its new range of residential air conditioners that comply with the latest 2026 Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Star Rating norms. LG said it is among the first brands in India to introduce a full portfolio aligned with the revised energy-efficiency framework.

The updated BEE norms raise national efficiency benchmarks significantly, bringing India’s air conditioner performance standards closer to global best practices. LG stated that it has upgraded its air conditioner portfolio well in advance, underlining its focus on sustainability and responsible product development while ensuring consumers get access to the latest energy-saving technology without delay.

Under the revised 2026 framework, energy performance thresholds have been tightened. As a result, certain models that were earlier classified as 5-star under previous guidelines may now fall under 4-star ratings. LG clarified that this change reflects stricter evaluation standards, not reduced product performance, and is intended to accelerate adoption of more efficient cooling technologies across households.

LG also highlighted the energy-saving impact of the new ratings. Industry estimates suggest that shifting to a 2026-norm 5-star AC can deliver savings of around ₹19,000 over 10 years, depending on electricity tariffs and usage patterns. The company said its 2026-compliant residential AC line-up has been available in the market since early January, helping early buyers avoid purchasing models built to older standards.

The new range also features upgrades aimed at improving user convenience and control. LG’s Precool feature uses geofencing technology through the ThinQ platform to detect when the user enters a predefined distance range, enabling the AC to begin cooling before the user arrives. LG’s Energy Manager+ feature reviews historical usage patterns and recommends practical operating hours and consumption targets. Users can also set periodic budget goals based on system recommendations.

Commenting on the rollout, Sanjay Chitkara, Co-Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, LG Electronics India Limited, said, “As India adopts tighter energy-efficiency standards, LG Electronics India remains committed to supporting this shift through early compliance and future-focused innovation. With our portfolio already aligned to the new BEE norms, we are entering the season prepared to offer dependable, energy-efficient air conditioning solutions that reduce operating costs while delivering strong cooling performance.”

To support consumer understanding of the revised rating system, LG is launching an awareness campaign across print, digital and retail platforms to explain how the new star ratings work and why the standards have changed. LG also confirmed that its manufacturing and supply chain systems have been aligned to the revised guidelines. While the focus will remain on the 2026-compliant models, air conditioners produced under previous standards will continue to be sold until existing inventory is cleared, giving consumers flexibility in purchase timing.

LG Electronics India Limited (LGEIL) was established in India in January 1997. The company operates across consumer electronics and B2B segments including home appliances, media entertainment, HVAC and commercial displays. LG’s manufacturing facilities in Greater Noida and Ranjangaon (Pune) produce LED TVs, air conditioners, commercial air conditioning systems, washing machines, refrigerators and monitors.
