Lauritz Knudsen, a subsidiary of the Schneider Electric Group, is making significant strides in expanding its renewable energy portfolio. The company is actively exploring innovations such as hydrogen analyzers, wind energy systems, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure as part of its ongoing efforts to grow within the green energy sector.
Following Schneider Electric’s acquisition of L&T Switchgear in 2020, which was rebranded as Lauritz Knudsen, the company has ramped up its focus on sustainable energy solutions. Naresh Kumar, the Chief Operating Officer at Lauritz Knudsen, stated, “We are committed to being a leader in clean and renewable energy. Our innovation and R&D are dedicated to shaping the new energy landscape, with a specialized business unit focused on this sector.”
The company is heavily investing in renewable energy solutions, including ethanol, solar, wind, green hydrogen, and energy storage systems such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and pumped storage systems (PSP). As demand for these products grows, Lauritz Knudsen is investing ₹850 crore into new manufacturing plants, research labs, and automation lines to scale its production capabilities.
This initiative is part of Schneider Electric’s broader global investment of €2 billion between 2024 and 2027. Lauritz Knudsen operates manufacturing and R&D facilities across India, with locations in Vadodara, Ahmednagar, Coimbatore, and an additional R&D center in Navi Mumbai, employing over 500 staff members.
The company is also focused on developing high-capacity, high-voltage, and eco-friendly products, aligned with future technological transitions. Lauritz Knudsen is closely examining solutions to help measure productivity alongside energy consumption, particularly in industries like agriculture and ethanol production. This research will help optimize energy use for various processes.
Kumar emphasized the company’s growing involvement in EV charging infrastructure, saying, “We are working closely with EV charger manufacturers to provide the necessary components and solutions.” Lauritz Knudsen will showcase some of its products at Elecrama, reinforcing its commitment to contributing to India’s EV ecosystem. As India targets 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, Lauritz Knudsen is positioning itself as a key player in the country’s energy transition and is actively contributing to the country’s growing green energy infrastructure.
