LAUDA DR R WOBSER GMBH & CO KG has unveiled LAUDA Universa, a new generation of bath and circulation thermostats designed to deliver high-precision temperature control, modular flexibility, advanced digital connectivity, and environmentally responsible cooling technology for laboratories and industrial applications. The new product line has been developed around four key pillars — customizability, performance, connectivity, and sustainability — reflecting the company’s focus on addressing evolving requirements in research, science, and industrial process control.
The Universa series is available in three variants — ECO, PRO, and MAX — allowing users to select different performance levels and configurations based on operational requirements. The modular architecture enables flexible combinations of baths, cooling units, and control heads, allowing laboratories to adapt systems according to specific applications.
According to Enrico Bossart, the modular structure offers customers significant flexibility while enabling future system upgrades through the replacement or addition of individual modules. The new thermostats support a temperature range from -90°C to 300°C and offer temperature stability of up to ±0.01 Kelvin.
With heating capacities reaching 3.6 kW and cooling capacities up to 1.6 kW, the systems are designed for both internal bath applications and external temperature control processes. The company stated that faster heating and cooling cycles can help accelerate research, development, and industrial production workflows while maintaining high process reliability and reproducibility.
Dr Gunther Wobser said the Universa platform continues the legacy established by the company’s first universal thermostat developed in 1949 by founder Dr Rudolf Wobser. He added that continuous investment in research and development has enabled LAUDA to remain at the forefront of precise temperature control technologies.
The Universa range also incorporates extensive digital connectivity features. All models are equipped with USB, Ethernet, and WiFi interfaces, enabling seamless integration into connected laboratory environments and industrial automation systems.
Through the LAUDA Command app, users can remotely operate and monitor systems using smartphones, tablets, or PCs. Integration with LAUDA.LIVE Services supports remote maintenance, monitoring, and data management capabilities. Sustainability has also been a major focus in product development. The Universa range exclusively uses natural refrigerants with refrigerant volumes below 100 grams.
The systems feature inverter-controlled compressors designed to improve energy efficiency while reducing operational noise levels. LAUDA stated that all Universa devices are CE- and NRTL-certified for global deployment and are backed by a five-year premium warranty, underscoring the company’s confidence in the reliability and durability of the new platform.
