Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has dispatched its second steam generator to the Kaiga Atomic Power Station in Karnataka, well ahead of schedule. This delivery is part of India’s 10 x 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) Fleet Programme. The generator was sent from the A M Naik Heavy Engineering Complex in Hazira, Gujarat, 11 months earlier than planned.
The steam generator is crucial for nuclear power generation, converting water into steam using heat from the reactor core. This follows the delivery of the first generator in March, setting a new industry benchmark.
Anil V Parab, Whole-time Director and Senior Executive Vice President of L&T Heavy Engineering and L&T Valves, highlighted L&T’s dedication to excellence and customer satisfaction through the use of Industry 4.0 and advanced manufacturing techniques at the flag-off.
