German specialty chemicals company LANXESS has inaugurated its India Application Development Center (IADC) in Thane, Mumbai, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions. The center, occupying an entire floor at LANXESS House, serves as a hub for two business units and has the capacity for future expansion.
“India is a key growth region for LANXESS, offering immense opportunities for collaboration and innovation,” said Matthias Zachert, Chairman of the Board of Management of LANXESS AG, at the inauguration ceremony. “The IADC reaffirms our commitment to delivering tailored solutions for local customers while driving organic, innovation-led growth. This milestone is even more special as it coincides with our 20th anniversary as a company.”
The Innovation and Application Development Center (IADC) is a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening LANXESS’ presence in India by enhancing its capability to develop high-value solutions tailored to local industries. This center integrates expertise from two key business units: Lubricant Additives, which focuses on high-performance additives, synthetic base fluids, and ready-to-use lubricants, and Material Protection Products, which specializes in antimicrobial, disinfection, and preservation solutions.
Equipped with state-of-the-art testing and development facilities, the IADC is designed to provide advanced support to customers across various industries. It enables friction and wear studies for lubricants, ensuring enhanced performance and durability. Additionally, the center facilitates the synthesis and evaluation of new materials, allowing for the development of innovative solutions that cater to evolving market demands.
Another crucial aspect of the IADC’s capabilities is its focus on antimicrobial performance testing. The center conducts rigorous assessments on paints, emulsions, and water-based chemistries, ensuring that these products meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy. By offering comprehensive research and development support, LANXESS reinforces its commitment to driving innovation and delivering high-performance solutions in India and beyond.

LANXESS has a strong presence in India, with all 10 business units operating in the country and a workforce of around 800 employees. The company operates two key production hubs, each specializing in distinct product segments. The Jhagadia facility in Gujarat is dedicated to the production of Rhein Chemie, Liquid Purification Technologies, and Material Protection Products, serving diverse industrial applications. This hub plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards and innovation in these specialized fields.
Meanwhile, the Nagda facility in Madhya Pradesh focuses primarily on the Flavors & Fragrances segment, catering to industries that require high-grade aromatic and sensory solutions. This production center is instrumental in developing products that enhance consumer experiences across various applications, reinforcing the company’s commitment to quality and excellence in its respective domains
