LANXESS India has been honored with two prestigious awards from the Global Environment and Energy Foundation (GEEF) for 2024. The company received the Platinum Safety Award and the WaterTech Award in the Sustainable Water Management category. These awards highlight LANXESS India’s commitment to high safety standards and sustainable water management practices.

The awards were presented at a ceremony in New Delhi on July 26, 2024. Balaram Khot, Wholetime Director and Head of PTSE, and Bharat Meesala, Senior Manager of PTSE – Occupational Safety, Xact, Responsible Care and Trade Compliance, accepted the awards on behalf of LANXESS India.

The GEEF Global Safety Award in the platinum category acknowledges LANXESS India’s exceptional performance in maintaining rigorous safety standards within the chemical industry. This accolade reflects the company’s dedication to creating a safe working environment.

LANXESS adheres to strict global directives on health protection, occupational safety, and process safety. These directives involve proactive risk identification, accident prevention measures, and rapid incident response. Key safety measures include employee involvement in safety procedures, behavior-based safety programs, a robust work permit system, contractor management, and comprehensive training.

The WaterTech Award in the Sustainable Water Management category recognizes LANXESS India’s innovative approach to managing water resources. The company has committed to reducing water consumption and addressing water scarcity issues through targeted initiatives.

LANXESS India regularly conducts water risk analyses to assess water stress and implement strategies to minimize water use and enhance recycling. For instance, the Nagda site treats effluent in a PTRO unit and evaporator plant, ensuring zero liquid discharge and recycling recovered water for production. Additionally, grey water from nearby domestic sources is treated and reused in production processes.

Namitesh Roy Choudhury, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of LANXESS India, remarked on the achievement, “We are honored to receive the GEEF Global Awards. Our commitment to sustainable practices benefits both our organization and the communities we serve. These awards inspire us to continue leading by example and pushing the boundaries of industry standards.”

The GEEF Global Awards recognize excellence in safety, health, security management, water management, and sustainable development, with a jury composed of distinguished figures from government, academia, and industry.
