Skilled construction equipment operators from across Europe are preparing to compete in the inaugural LANDCROS European Operator Challenge, a competition designed to highlight precision, efficiency and machine handling under conditions that closely reflect real-life job sites. Hosted across eight European countries, the event will bring together experienced professionals to demonstrate their expertise while operating some of the industry’s most advanced excavators and wheel loaders.
The competition combines practical construction tasks with engaging skill-based challenges that test speed, accuracy and equipment control. Participants will take on activities such as water bucket handling, load-and-carry operations with a specified payload, obstacle navigation, precision digging using grading technology and a ball-control challenge that measures machine handling and operator finesse.
Competitors will perform these tasks using a range of LANDCROS construction equipment, including the ZX95USB-7 compact excavator, ZX210-7 medium crawler excavator, ZW250 wheel loader and ZW310-7 wheel loader. The event aims to demonstrate the productivity, reliability and versatility of these machines while recognising the expertise of the operators behind them.
Each national competition is expected to attract between 12 and 16 operators and will be organised by leading LANDCROS dealers across Europe. The series begins in Spain on May 30, hosted by HJM, followed by events in the United Kingdom on June 6, organised by HCM UK, and Switzerland on June 8 and 9 with Probst Maveg. Additional competitions will take place later in the month in the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Italy and Portugal through local dealer partners HCM Netherlands, HCM France, Luyckx, SCAI and Moviter.
Winners and runners-up from each national competition will receive prizes determined by their respective host countries. The overall European champion will earn a trip for two to Japan. In addition, the three highest-ranked operators will receive an invitation to demonstrate their skills live in the LANDCROS outdoor demonstration area during Intermat Paris 2027, one of the world’s leading exhibitions for construction and infrastructure equipment.
Laura Hendriks, Director of Marketing and Brand Communication at LANDCROS Europe, said the competition provides an opportunity to recognise the exceptional skills of equipment operators while showcasing the performance of the company’s dependable construction machines. She added that, with the support of the dealer network, the first LANDCROS European Operator Challenge marks an important milestone ahead of the brand’s transition next year. The event is also expected to strengthen relationships with customers and operators while celebrating professional excellence across Europe’s construction industry.
