Kundan Green Energy has embarked on a transformative journey to develop a cutting-edge greenfield hydropower plant in Okhali, Uttarakhand. This significant undertaking underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure and fostering sustainable development practices.
Awarded by the Uttarakhand Government, the project signifies Kundan Green Energy’s steadfast dedication to executing hydropower initiatives with unparalleled efficiency and adherence to global standards. Scheduled for completion by 2028, the plant is poised to generate 42 MW of power initially, with the potential for future expansion to 60 MW. This substantial addition to Uttarakhand’s renewable energy portfolio promises to significantly enhance the state’s energy resilience and sustainability efforts.

Udit Garg, Director & CEO of Kundan Green Energy, emphasized the pivotal role of hydropower in meeting the growing demand for clean energy. He highlighted Uttarakhand’s abundant hydropower resources and the company’s commitment to harnessing these resources in alignment with international standards and best practices.
Garg further underscored Kundan Green Energy’s hallmark of execution excellence, citing the company’s remarkable track record of delivering projects within significantly shorter timeframes than industry norms. While the average commissioning period for hydropower plants typically ranges from 8 to 10 years, Kundan Green Energy has consistently demonstrated the ability to complete projects in just 4 to 5 years, setting a new standard for efficiency and reliability in the sector.
Upon completion, the Okhali project will elevate Kundan Green Energy’s total hydropower capacity to an impressive 270 MW, further solidifying its position as a key player in the renewable energy sector. This milestone, coupled with ongoing projects such as the 24 MW initiative at Rally Chu in Sikkim, underscores the company’s commitment to driving the transition towards cleaner, greener energy solutions.
The Okhali project is part of a broader initiative aimed at augmenting Uttarakhand’s hydropower generation capacity by 80 MW through greenfield projects. With an investment of INR 1000 crore, Kundan Green Energy seeks to leverage the state’s vast untapped hydropower potential to promote sustainable energy development and foster economic growth.
As Kundan Green Energy forges ahead with its ambitious hydropower initiatives, the Okhali project stands as a beacon of sustainable development and renewable energy innovation. By harnessing the power of hydropower, the company aims to propel Uttarakhand towards a cleaner, more prosperous future while contributing to India’s broader renewable energy goals.
