KROHNE has introduced REconnect, a newly developed quick coupling system designed to enable safe and efficient connection and disconnection of diaphragm seal systems with capillary tubes. The innovation expands the company’s pressure measurement portfolio and addresses long-standing challenges in maintenance and servicing of critical process instrumentation.
The REconnect system is positioned between the pressure or differential pressure transmitter and the process connection. It allows technicians to carry out maintenance, inspection, or replacement of transmitters without interrupting ongoing operations. This capability is particularly valuable in industries where process continuity is essential.
The system is engineered to ensure leak-free separation of capillary connections, even under pressurised conditions. It prevents the loss of filling fluid and eliminates the risk of contamination caused by air ingress—factors that can otherwise lead to measurement inaccuracies or system drift.
At the core of REconnect is a two-piece ball valve mechanism. In its closed position, both sides of the system remain hydraulically connected and securely locked. When opened, the system maintains pressure integrity while allowing the components to be separated along an axial line. This design ensures stable performance and avoids displacement of the internal fluid, a common issue with conventional hydraulic connectors.
The system is compatible with a broad range of OPTIBAR pressure transmitters and diaphragm seals, making it suitable for diverse industrial applications. It is also designed to meet requirements for hazardous environments and safety-critical operations, including Ex and SIL-rated systems.
REconnect offers significant advantages across sectors such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. In hygienic environments, it helps maintain strict cleanliness standards, while in applications involving hazardous or sensitive media, it minimizes exposure risks. For large-scale industrial plants, the system simplifies servicing and reduces operational complexity.
In addition to improving safety and reliability, the solution contributes to greater efficiency. Maintenance tasks can often be performed by a single technician, reducing labour requirements. The ability to conduct calibration and servicing without shutting down processes helps minimize downtime and ensures consistent operational output.
