KPIT Technologies, a leading global company focused on mobility solutions for a cleaner and smarter future, has partnered with COEP Technological University to establish the KPIT APEX Lab. The Advanced Platform for Embedded eXpertise (APEX) lab is part of KPIT’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts aimed at enhancing academic skills and closing the gap between classroom education and real-world industrial demands.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the lab is designed to enable students and faculty to address practical challenges in embedded systems and the integration of hardware with software, promoting innovation and preparing them for industry needs.

The KPIT APEX Lab is designed to support undergraduate and postgraduate students, doctoral researchers, and faculty by offering a platform to build robust technical expertise in embedded systems and hardware-software integration. Through hands-on experience and access to advanced tools, participants can deepen their understanding and practical skills in these critical areas.

In addition to skill development, the lab encourages innovative research that directly addresses industry challenges, promoting solutions with real-world applications. It also fosters a culture of continuous learning and collaboration by connecting multiple institutions, enabling knowledge sharing and joint initiatives that enhance academic and industrial partnerships.

Vinayak Pai, Chairman of COEP Technological University, commented, “The KPIT APEX Lab is a key initiative that bridges the divide between theoretical knowledge and industrial practice. Through collaboration with industry leaders, we’re equipping our students with hands-on experience in the latest embedded technologies, setting them up for success in tomorrow’s workforce. Supported by the Vice Chancellor and Board of Governance, this lab will grow into a vibrant center of innovation, research, and excellence.”

Anup Sable, CTO of KPIT Technologies, added, “We see strong partnerships between industry and academia as critical for shaping the future of mobility and embedded systems. The KPIT APEX Lab will nurture engineering talent by providing practical exposure and real-world problem-solving experience. By equipping students and faculty with advanced tools and collaborative opportunities, we are contributing to the development of future-ready professionals.”

The lab aligns with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by encouraging multidisciplinary learning, hands-on training, and modular, credit-based courses. It operates as a cluster hub accessible to students from COEP Technological University and its partner institutions, which currently include AISSMS Institute of Information Technology, Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s College of Engineering, and Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, with plans for more to join. This collaborative framework supports shared facilities, joint curriculum design, and faculty skill enhancement, promoting a scalable and inclusive approach to technical education.

KPIT Technologies is a global partner in the automotive and mobility sector, driving the shift toward software-defined vehicles. With about 13,000 professionals worldwide specializing in embedded software, AI, and digital solutions, KPIT helps clients implement cutting-edge technologies for future mobility. The company has engineering centers across Europe, the USA, Japan, China, Thailand, and India, collaborating closely with industry leaders during this transformational phase.
