KPG Roofings, a leading name in India’s roofing industry and the top seller of ceramic roof tiles, has announced the start of domestic production of ceramic roof tiles in Gujarat. This marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time ceramic roof tiles will be manufactured within India.

This move comes at a critical time given the current global trade challenges. By producing ceramic roof tiles locally, KPG Roofings aims to overcome issues related to fluctuating shipping costs and supply chain disruptions, ensuring a stable supply of roofing materials for the Indian market.

Ceramic roof tiles, made from white clay with a ceramic coating, are traditionally imported. These tiles are known for their durability, maintaining color for up to 30 years, and resistance to water absorption, algae, and fungi. Compared to traditional terracotta tiles, ceramic tiles offer higher strength, load-bearing capacity, and uniform size.

KPG Roofings’ decision to produce these tiles locally reflects the growing demand for durable and high-quality roofing solutions in India. This initiative is expected to significantly support the ‘Make in India’ campaign, reducing reliance on imports and contributing to economic growth.

“We are thrilled to launch the first-ever production of ceramic roof tiles in India. This is a landmark achievement not just for KPG Roofings but for the entire Indian construction industry,” said Rajeel KP, Director of KPG Roofings. “Our advanced facility in Gujarat, developed in collaboration with leading companies, will enable us to meet the rising demand for premium roofing tiles, improve product availability, and contribute to the local economy.”

Domestic production will also lead to faster delivery times, increasing efficiency across KPG Roofings’ network of over 40 showrooms. The company aims to expand its franchise network to 100 by 2030. The local manufacturing initiative is expected to bring several benefits, including lower costs for consumers due to reduced import reliance, improved supply chains, and job creation in the region. The Gujarat facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to produce world-class ceramic roof tiles that meet international standards.

“This initiative is perfectly aligned with the ‘Make in India’ vision and demonstrates our commitment to sustainable growth and self-reliance,” added Mr. Rajeel. “By manufacturing locally, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also creating jobs and fostering skill development in the region.”
