Kobelco Construction Equipment India (KCEI), a subsidiary of Japan-based Kobelco Construction Machinery Co, has introduced three excavator variants in the 19.1–24 tonne category: the SK210, SK215LC and SK230XDLC. The machines are designed for construction and infrastructure projects in India, with a focus on performance, fuel efficiency and operating costs.
The excavators are manufactured at KCEI’s facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The launch forms part of the company’s ‘Value Excavation’ approach, which combines Japanese engineering with local manufacturing to meet the requirements of Indian customers. KCEI’s Sri City facility has an annual production capacity of around 3,500 units and has produced more than 20,000 machines for domestic and overseas markets. The company exports to more than 16 countries.
The three models are powered by a 150 HP F4.5 Cummins common-rail direct injection (CRDI) engine. Their features include enhanced digging forces, GEOSCAN remote tracking, standard air-conditioning, LED work lights and a power boost function. The machines also have extended hydraulic oil and filter maintenance intervals, which are intended to reduce maintenance requirements and improve equipment availability. These features are aimed at helping contractors manage operating costs while maintaining productivity across excavation and infrastructure projects.
Jun Hayama, Managing Director of Kobelco Construction Equipment India, said India remained a key market in the company’s growth plans in Asia. He said the introduction of the three excavator variants marked its continued focus on the country’s infrastructure sector as KCEI completed two decades of operations in India, including manufacturing and engineering activities. Moses Eddy, Director of KCEI, said the company’s approach went beyond equipment sales and servicing. He said Kobelco aimed to help customers improve excavation economics through a balance of technology and localisation.
Established in India in 2006, KCEI manufactures excavators for domestic use and export markets. Its product range serves a variety of construction and infrastructure applications. The company also operates a network of more than 30 dealerships across India, providing sales and after-sales support.
The launch adds three models to Kobelco’s excavator portfolio for the Indian market. The company said it would continue to focus on equipment designed for local operating conditions and on supporting customers and dealer partners over the equipment lifecycle.
