Gruner Renewable Energy, one of India’s fastest-growing renewable energy firms, has announced its venture into the Agritech industry with the launch of Kisani Urjaa Pvt. Ltd. (KUPL). With an investment of USD 1 million, Gruner is set to revolutionize the Indian agricultural landscape by integrating digital innovation and sustainable practices. Kisani Urjaa seeks to enhance the livelihoods of farmers by offering advanced, data-driven solutions designed to boost productivity, optimize agricultural waste management, and provide easy access to essential farming services.

India generates approximately 620 million metric tons of agricultural waste annually, but only 25-30% of this waste is effectively utilized for fodder or energy. Mismanagement of agricultural residue, especially stubble burning, is a major cause of air pollution and environmental harm. KUPL aims to tackle these issues by offering efficient agricultural waste management solutions, empowering farmers, and supporting sustainability in the farming sector.

Utkarsh Gupta, Founder & CEO of Gruner Group, highlighted the importance of agriculture in India’s economic development, noting that the 2025-26 Union Budget allocates about Rs. 1,37,000 crores to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. Gupta emphasized that Kisani Urjaa aligns with national efforts like the ‘Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana,’ which aims to improve agricultural productivity and empower rural communities.

He stated, “The launch of Kisani Urjaa represents a significant step in transforming Indian agriculture by focusing on sustainable, tech-driven solutions. Our goal is to reach a revenue of Rs. 100 crores by 2025-26, which will enable us to support and empower the farming community. By combining digital innovation with on-the-ground agricultural needs, we are working towards a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous future for India’s farmers.”

KUPL specializes in the sustainable collection and management of paddy straw and other agricultural residues, offering an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional waste disposal. Key initiatives focus on supporting farmers with field clearance for future crop cycles, enabling them to clear their fields efficiently and on time, which helps save labor costs and prepares them for the next planting season.

Additionally, there is a strong emphasis on environmental conservation by promoting sustainable agricultural practices that minimize the impact on the environment and contribute to maintaining ecological balance. To enhance the efficiency of feedstock collection, KUPL has introduced the Kisani Mobile App.

This digital platform connects farmers with the company’s services, allowing them to register and list available feedstock for collection. The app facilitates quick scheduling, helping farmers monetize agricultural waste, reduce environmental harm, and improve their income. By using this innovative approach, KUPL is transforming farm waste into a valuable resource and paving the way for a more sustainable and profitable agricultural sector in India.
