Kirloskar Ebara Pumps Ltd (KEPL) has achieved a significant milestone by successfully executing the installation of 16 pump packages for the PNCPL, which is recognized as India’s longest crude oil pipeline project. Spanning an impressive 1,630 kilometers, this extensive pipeline runs from Paradip Port in Odisha to the NRL located in Assam. This pivotal infrastructure project is set to enhance NRL’s processing capabilities, increasing its capacity from 3.0 MMTPA to an impressive 9.0 MMTPA.
The PNCPL project traverses five states and incorporates cutting-edge technology, including Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), to navigate significant river crossings along its route. This innovative approach not only minimizes environmental disruption but also ensures the efficient laying of the pipeline through challenging terrains.
As part of the Government of India’s ambitious ‘Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for North East India,’ the PNCPL initiative marks a landmark investment in the energy infrastructure of the region. This vision aims to bolster energy access and foster economic growth in North East India, making the PNCPL project a cornerstone of that strategy.
KEPL has played a crucial role in this development by supplying and installing high-performance pumps specifically designed for handling crude oil. These pumps are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, including High Torque (HT) drives that ensure optimal performance under demanding conditions, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for precise control of pump speeds, and advanced Leak Detection Systems (LOS) that enhance safety by identifying potential issues before they escalate.
Additionally, the incorporation of Monitoring and Management Systems (MMS) allows for real-time oversight of pump operations, contributing to overall operational efficiency and reliability. The successful execution of this extensive project underscores KEPL’s expertise in managing large-scale and complex infrastructure installations. It reinforces the company’s reputation as a dependable and skilled player in the energy sector, capable of handling projects of significant magnitude and complexity.
Furthermore, the completion of the PNCPL project opens new avenues for KEPL, positioning the company favorably to take on more ambitious energy initiatives across India. With a proven track record of delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions, KEPL is well-equipped to contribute to the nation’s ongoing efforts to enhance its energy capabilities and meet the growing demands of the market.
KEPL’s involvement in the Paradip-Numaligarh Crude Oil Pipeline project not only exemplifies its technological prowess but also highlights its commitment to supporting the Government of India’s vision for a robust and sustainable energy future in North East India.
