Pune-based Kinetic Group, a leader in automotive components, has announced its foray into EV battery manufacturing with a new production facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, set up with an investment of ₹50 crore. The facility will manufacture 60,000 Range-X batteries annually for electric two- and three-wheelers, supporting both in-house production and external OEM supply. It will produce LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) and NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) batteries, catering to diverse EV applications. Additionally, Kinetic Group is developing prismatic cells for three-wheelers, further expanding its product range.

“Range-X is the result of our pioneering work in battery technology and a key step in India’s EV transformation,” said Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Kinetic Group. “The Ahmednagar facility embodies self-reliance, safety, and sustainability in battery innovation.”

With automation and smart technology integration, the facility will deliver efficient, reliable, and clean energy solutions to meet the growing demand for electric mobility. Kinetic Group’s Range-X batteries are built with advanced LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) technology, ensuring superior safety and performance. Their stable chemical composition minimizes the risk of thermal runaway, making them a safer and more reliable choice for electric vehicles. Additionally, these batteries are designed to withstand extreme temperatures, delivering consistent peak performance in diverse climatic conditions.

Equipped with Smart Battery Management System (BMS) integration, Range-X batteries optimize energy efficiency and enhance overall battery health. The intelligent BMS continuously monitors and regulates power output, ensuring longer battery life and improved performance across different EV applications.

The company is also developing high-energy-density NMC batteries, ensuring longer-lasting power for a range of EV applications. With India’s EV market projected to grow at a CAGR of 28.52%, reaching $18.3 billion by 2029, Kinetic Group is well-positioned to support the demand for high-quality EV batteries. Additionally, the company is investing in advanced technology, localization of Battery Management Systems (BMS), and aligning with the PLI schemes under the PM E-drive initiative, further strengthening India’s Make in India movement for clean mobility solutions.
