Kinetic Green Energy & Power Solutions Ltd., a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has entered a strategic partnership with Yuma Energy, a major Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) provider, to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in India. The collaboration aims to deploy 100,000 electric vehicles, including two-wheelers (E2W) and three-wheelers (E3W), over the next four years, starting with the launch of 10,000 EVs in 2025.
The rollout will begin in February 2025, with the first batch of vehicles being introduced in Pune. This partnership is focused on greening the last mile, addressing the critical barriers of high upfront costs and lack of charging infrastructure that hinder widespread EV adoption.
Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Founder and CEO of Kinetic Green, expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting how it will help reduce pollution by replacing fossil-fuel vehicles with clean energy alternatives. She emphasized that the combination of Kinetic Green’s advanced electric vehicles and Yuma Energy’s battery swapping ecosystem will provide an efficient and seamless EV experience for customers, enabling them to maximize their earnings while driving adoption.
Yuma Energy’s Managing Director, Muthu Subramanian, also shared enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that it brings together Yuma’s technology with Kinetic Green’s legacy to improve the affordability, reliability, and sustainability of EVs. The collaboration will focus on high-demand segments such as shared passenger mobility and last-mile delivery, where operational uptime and efficiency are critical.
The partnership between Kinetic Green and Yuma Energy focuses on creating a seamless and accessible ecosystem for electric vehicle (EV) users. Kinetic Green’s diverse range of EVs will be integrated into Yuma Energy’s extensive network, offering flexibility to both fleet operators and individual riders. This integration ensures that users have a wide selection of vehicles suited to their specific needs, promoting greater adoption of sustainable transportation options.
A key highlight of the collaboration is Yuma Energy’s robust battery-swapping infrastructure, which currently includes over 200 swapping stations, with plans for significant expansion. These stations are designed to provide quick and reliable service, boasting sub-minute battery swap times and a 99% uptime guarantee. This ensures minimal disruptions for EV users, making battery-swapping a convenient alternative to traditional charging methods.
Additionally, the partnership addresses the financial barriers often associated with EV ownership. By separating the cost of the battery from the vehicle, the battery-swapping model reduces upfront costs for customers while eliminating concerns about range limitations. This innovative approach not only enhances affordability but also accelerates the transition to cleaner, more efficient transportation systems.
The partnership will begin with the introduction of 1,000 E-Luna electric vehicles in Pune, ideal for last-mile delivery applications. Over the course of 2025, 10,000 Kinetic Green EVs will be deployed, with the plan to scale nationally.
Yuma Energy, known for its reliable BaaS solutions, operates one of India’s largest battery swapping networks and is supported by global mobility technology firm Magna and India’s top shared electric mobility company Yulu. Meanwhile, Kinetic Green, a key player in India’s EV market, is focused on producing high-quality electric two- and three-wheelers and plans to expand its offerings both within India and internationally.
