Kinetic Engineering Limited (KEL) has approved the use of its brand by its subsidiary, Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd (KWV), to mark the brand’s entry into the electric vehicle sector. The licensing agreement allows KWV to operate under the Kinetic name in the EV market for an initial term of three years.
Established on September 27, 2022, KWV was created to focus on opportunities in electric mobility. The company is now preparing to launch its product range, outline its rollout strategy, and formalize industry partnerships. KEL and its promoters have committed ₹71.83 crore to KWV, including a recent additional investment of ₹29 crore. With this funding, KEL will hold an 80% ownership stake in the subsidiary.
Kinetic Engineering continues to supply essential components—gearboxes, axles, and chassis—for the electric vehicle industry. The broader Kinetic Group also manufactures EV batteries under the “Range X” brand.
The brand licensing agreement is non-exclusive and will be reassessed after the initial term, with future extensions or changes dependent on market performance and expansion goals. This development reflects KEL’s strategy to leverage its manufacturing capabilities and longstanding brand reputation to support India’s shift toward electric mobility and sustainable transport solutions.
Kinetic Engineering Limited, based in Pune, Maharashtra, has been part of India’s automotive industry since 1970. Over the decades, it has evolved from manufacturing mopeds and two-wheelers to supplying key components and assemblies for vehicles. The company’s operations now span engineering, production, and innovation for both domestic and global markets.
KEL’s product portfolio includes transmission systems, engine components, and other essential automotive assemblies. Its manufacturing unit is located in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. Listed on the BSE, KEL continues to pursue strategic investments and collaborations to support growth and innovation in transportation and engineering.
Kinetic Watts and Volts Limited, the subsidiary receiving the latest investment, aims to explore and develop opportunities in advanced mobility technologies. Still in the early stages, KWVL is expected to play a role in KEL’s future plans as it expands its presence in the evolving automotive space.
