The 10th edition of Kids India, a leading international B2B trade fair for the Indian toy industry, is scheduled to be held from September 12 to 14 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Organized by Spielwarenmesse India Pvt. Ltd., the Indian branch of Spielwarenmesse eG, which hosts the world’s largest toy fair in Germany, this event is a significant fixture on the toy industry calendar.
Kids India 2024 arrives at a pivotal moment for the Indian toy sector, which has experienced substantial growth due to government initiatives aimed at boosting exports and enhancing the domestic market. The fair has attracted numerous international buyers and prominent retailers, including Walmart, Toys R Us, Amazon, Flipkart, DMart, Firstcry, and Hamleys. This exposure is expected to help Indian toy manufacturers access global markets and connect with new buyers.
Managed by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and supported by industry associations such as the Sports Goods Export Promotion Council (SGEPC) and The All India Toy Manufacturers’ Association (TAITMA), Kids India also benefits from endorsement by the Ministry of Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME).
Over the past decade, Kids India has hosted major global brands like Hasbro, Disney, and Mattel. Last year’s event attracted over 5,000 trade visitors from 35 countries and featured 160 exhibitors showcasing a wide range of products including educational STEM toys, board games, traditional wooden toys, plush toys, and more.
Christian Ulrich from Spielwarenmesse eG stated, “We launched Kids India in 2013 to tap into the growing potential of the Indian market and provide a world-class trade show experience. As the Indian toy market continues to expand, Kids India remains committed to delivering high-quality exhibitions and serves as a key event for premium toys and children’s products in India.”
Manish Kukreja, President of the All India Toy Manufacturers Association, emphasized the fair’s importance, noting, “Kids India is a vital platform for showcasing innovative products and connecting with key industry players. With the Indian toy market expected to grow at a CAGR of 15% over the next five years, this event is crucial for driving growth and enhancing our global presence.”
The event will also feature a comprehensive conference program addressing challenges faced by toy manufacturers and strategies for boosting exports and achieving international distribution. Vivek Jhangiani, Director of TAITMA and Chairperson of the FICCI Toy Committee, praised Kids India for its role in promoting excellence and supporting the industry’s growth.
