Kernex Microsystems (India) Limited has announced that it has been awarded a ₹2,041.04 crore contract from Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, a unit of the Ministry of Railways. The agreement involves the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of 2,500 sets of On-board KAVACH systems, in compliance with RDSO Specification No. RDSO/SPN/196/2020, Version 4.0.
The project is expected to be completed within a year. KAVACH, a critical safety technology aimed at preventing train collisions, also known as the Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) or Automatic Train Protection System (IRATPS), is central to improving railway safety. Kernex, an RDSO-approved vendor, has been a key player in the development and deployment of this technology.
