Kennametal India Limited is presenting its latest innovations in mining and wear protection technologies at the International Mining and Machinery Exhibition (IMME) India, taking place from October 23-26 at the Science City Exhibition Ground in Kolkata.

The company is introducing several new products, including two cutting-edge picks designed to address varying customer needs, as well as a groundbreaking round drill steel system that enhances both efficiency and safety in mining operations.

  • PrimePoint™: This new pick, featuring a polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tip, offers increased hardness compared to conventional tungsten carbide. It helps longwall operators extend mining intervals by significantly reducing abrasive wear, resulting in less downtime.
  • PlusPoint™: Engineered for tougher conditions, this pick uses an extra durable grade to penetrate hard rocks, minimizing tool usage and downtime when continuous miners face difficult geological formations.
  • Defender™ Round Drill Steel System: Developed to address the challenges of poor roof geology and water infiltration, this system improves safety, generates less dust, and operates with lower noise levels compared to traditional hex steel. Key features include thicker, repairable round steel, a self-aligning hands-free chuck, and spline-drive adapters that enable faster drilling of larger holes.

Kennametal will also showcase its surface mining solutions, including blocks, picks, and conical tools with a unique taper tip design that improves performance and productivity. The company’s KenCast™ wear protection solutions will be featured as well, offering up to six times the equipment lifespan, reducing repair costs and downtime.

In addition to surface mining tools, Kennametal will display solutions for underground mining, such as continuous miners, road headers, longwall shearers, feeder breakers, drills, and roof bolters—all designed to help mining operations achieve higher productivity.
