Electric charging station startup Kazam joins hands with BSES to install subsidised electric vehicle charging stations in Delhi. Kazam’s motto has been to offer smart and affordable charging solutions for electric vehicles across the country.

Founded in 2020, Kazam is the country’s first IoT-enabled charging station startup. The startup has announced partnership with Delhi’s DISCOMs, namely BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna, and Tata Power DDL, for the installation of subsidised electric vehicle charging stations for the next three years. The charging station installation will be done at semi-public spaces such as hospitals, malls, workplaces, shops and private properties such as bunglows and apartments.
A three-year-long empanelment tender was released in July 2021. According to the tender, the GNCTD ( Government of NCTD ) would provide subsidies of up to 100 percent of the cost of the slow chargers, that is up to Rs 6,000 per charging point. The subsidy will be given for the first 30,000 charging station installations in Delhi.
The Government of NCT of Delhi introduced the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy on August 7, 2020, an effort to make progress towards greener and sustainable development through the adoption of electric vehicles in the city. Speaking about the collaboration, Akshay Shekhar, Co-founder of Kazam said, “ Kazam aims to play a leading role in the electrification of mobility in India. We are on a pursuit of developing electric vehicle charging station network, hardware and software solutions for restaurant, homes, offices, mall, kirana shops, petrol pumps.”
