K J Somaiya School of Engineering Hosts 26th Edition of Abhiyantriki, Celebrating Innovation and Technology

The 26th edition of Abhiyantriki, the annual technical fest of K J Somaiya School of Engineering at Somaiya Vidyavihar University, was held at its Mumbai campus with the theme “Reshaping Reality.” The event, focused on the future of technology, encouraged participants to challenge limits and drive innovation.

Abhiyantriki attracted over 10,000 students, professionals, and faculty members, offering a range of events such as the Tech Expo, Internship Expo, Auto Expo, and new additions like the Startup Expo, Tech MUN, and Summit. Highlights included an impressive display of weaponry and equipment by the Indian Army’s 15th Assam Regiment and the Indian Air Force, as well as an exhibition on India’s contributions to astronomy.

The festival was inaugurated by distinguished guests, including Major Ishan Krishna and Sahab Nilen Kom from the Indian Army, Master Warrant Officer Saini and Sergeant Surender from the Indian Air Force, and Mr K. Kumar, former Deputy General Manager of ISRO. Other dignitaries included Shri Samir Somaiya, Chancellor of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Lt. Gen. Kahlon, Dr V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice-Chancellor, and Dr Suresh Ukarande, Principal of K J Somaiya School of Engineering. Keynote addresses were delivered by Mr K. Kumar and Mr Arif Khan, Chief Innovation Officer of Razorpay.

The event highlighted innovative projects such as Robo Bionics Robots by TechnoArc, Humanoids, Vayushastra (an aircraft by FCRCE College), and Mars Rover Vishwa and UAV Vayuputra by VJTI College, along with mega projects like Redshift, TMRT, and Robocon from K J Somaiya School of Engineering. The Internship Expo provided students with opportunities from leading companies like Ubona Technologies, Lyondellbasell, and Flite Labs, with many students securing internships. Additionally, Intra College tech competitions such as Technovate, Tech Quiz, and Tech Hunt promoted problem-solving skills.

The Tech MUN explored the intersection of technology and diplomacy, with discussions on topics such as the Ethics of War Technology and Global Health. Fun activities and casual gaming events added to the lively atmosphere.

Shri Samir Somaiya, Chancellor of SomaiyaVidyavihar University, stated, “Abhiyantriki provides a platform for showcasing both internal and external projects, demonstrating how our students are advancing technology with innovative solutions.” He emphasized that the projects aim to address real-world challenges and reflect the university’s commitment to “learning by doing.”

Mr. Kumar, former Deputy General Manager of ISRO, praised the event, noting, “The technical proficiency and imagination of these students highlight the promising future of engineering in India.” Mr. Arif Khan, Chief Innovation Officer at Razorpay, also lauded the innovations, saying, “The event demonstrated the immense potential of the next generation of engineers in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.”
