Juniper Green Energy has announced a significant partnership with First Solar to procure 1 gigawatt (GW) of advanced Series 7 FT1 cadmium telluride (CdTe) thin-film photovoltaic modules. The Gurgaon-based renewable energy company plans to deploy these modules in projects across Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra during the next financial year, according to a company release.
The agreement marks one of the largest deals for domestically-produced solar modules, with First Solar supplying the high-efficiency panels over a two-year period from its Chennai manufacturing facility. This collaboration aligns with Juniper Green Energy’s strategy to reduce reliance on Chinese crystalline silicon supply chains and bolster the use of locally-made products.
