Juniper Green Energy Limited has announced the commencement of commissioning for India’s first Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project, developed under the Government of India’s flagship FDRE guidelines. The milestone marks a significant advancement in the country’s transition toward reliable, grid-aligned renewable power.

The integrated project combines 259 MWp of solar capacity, 280 MW of wind power, and 200 MWh of battery energy storage, spanning installations across Rajasthan and Gujarat. Designed to deliver firm and dispatchable clean energy, the project aligns renewable generation with grid demand, addressing intermittency challenges traditionally associated with solar and wind power.

The commissioning follows Juniper Green Energy’s earlier achievement of developing India’s first merchant battery energy storage system in Bikaner. With this development, the company strengthens its position at the forefront of next-generation renewable solutions that integrate generation and storage at scale.

Commenting on the milestone, Ankush Malik, Chief Executive Officer of Juniper Green Energy, stated that the project represents a defining step toward delivering reliable renewable power. He highlighted that the integration of solar, wind, and battery storage demonstrates the company’s execution capabilities and commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions in India.

India’s rapid renewable capacity expansion has underscored the need for grid stability. To address this, the Ministry of Power introduced FDRE guidelines in 2023, encouraging developers to combine multiple renewable sources with storage systems to ensure consistent, dispatchable energy supply. Unlike conventional renewable projects, FDRE solutions are designed to match electricity demand patterns, offering a dependable alternative to traditional thermal power.

The solar component of the project commenced commercial operations in March 2026, followed by the battery energy storage system in April 2026. The project is expected to play a critical role in meeting peak electricity demand, particularly in northern states such as Haryana, where power consumption rises sharply during summer months.

The project was awarded under a competitive tender issued by SJVN Limited. Juniper Green Energy has entered into a 200 MW Power Purchase Agreement with SJVN, which has further tied up with the Haryana Power Purchase Centre to supply clean and reliable energy to the state. The emergence of FDRE projects is reshaping India’s renewable energy landscape by enabling utilities to procure power that closely aligns with consumption needs. With multiple tenders already underway across agencies such as SJVN, NHPC, SECI, and NTPC, the segment is witnessing rapid growth.

Juniper Green Energy is part of the Singapore-based AT Capital Group, which invests in renewable energy, real estate, and infrastructure sectors across India, the Gulf region, and Europe. The commissioning of the Bikaner storage project highlights Juniper’s commitment to strengthening grid resilience and advancing the country’s renewable energy transition.
