Jubilant Ingrevia Limited, a global leader in Life Sciences & Specialty Chemicals, has taken a significant step in enhancing its renewable energy initiatives by signing a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with O2 Power. The agreement, executed through its wholly owned subsidiary, Jubilant Infrastructure Limited, is for the company’s SEZ Bharuch Manufacturing Facility.
This contract highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability by integrating green energy into its operations. This new agreement comes one year after Jubilant Ingrevia signed a similar deal for its facilities in Savli, Gujarat, and Gajraula, Uttar Pradesh, where renewable energy supply is set to begin in April 2025.
Deepak Jain, CEO & Managing Director of Jubilant Ingrevia Limited, commented on the development: “Our continued partnership with O2 Power reflects our commitment to sustainable practices. With this agreement, 50% of the power used at our Bharuch Manufacturing Facility will come from renewable energy. This marks another key milestone in reducing our carbon footprint and supporting India’s transition to cleaner, sustainable energy while providing long-term value for our stakeholders.”
This initiative is a significant move towards making the Bharuch manufacturing site more environmentally friendly. Following the signing of this agreement, over 35% of Jubilant Ingrevia’s total energy needs across all its manufacturing facilities will be met through renewable sources.
Parag Sharma, Founder and CEO of O2 Power, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: “We are excited to extend our collaboration with Jubilant Ingrevia Limited, supplying renewable energy to their Bharuch Manufacturing Facility. This is in addition to our ongoing efforts at their Savli and Gajraula sites. By providing reliable, renewable energy, we are helping Jubilant Ingrevia meet its sustainability goals while contributing to a greener, low-carbon future.”
As a leader in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, Jubilant Ingrevia has consistently ranked among the top-performing chemical companies in various sustainability indices, including the S&P DJSI, TFS, Ecovadis, CDP Climate Change program, and the Responsible Care certification. The company is now focusing on transitioning to clean energy, with renewable energy adoption being a central component of its broader sustainability strategy, alongside efforts like biomass energy.
In recognition of its sustainability efforts, the World Economic Forum (WEF) recently named Jubilant Ingrevia’s Bharuch manufacturing facility as a Global Manufacturing Lighthouse, marking it as the only chemical company in the 2024 cohort. This honor highlights the facility’s commitment to digital transformation, improving operational efficiencies, and driving environmental sustainability with a positive societal impact.
