JTL Industries has secured a major order from the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department of Jammu to supply 3,000 metric tonnes of Galvanized Iron (GI) pipes in various sizes. Valued at Rs 24 crore, the order is part of the ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and is scheduled for delivery within 30 days.
Since its launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2019, JJM has significantly improved rural water access, with tap water coverage increasing from 3.23 crore (17%) households at the outset to 15.44 crore (79.74%) households by February 1, 2025. The government has extended the mission through 2028, with additional funding, as the final 20% coverage requires substantial infrastructure upgrades, enhanced strategies, and increased last-mile connectivity efforts.
The Jal Shakti Ministry estimates that an additional Rs 4 lakh crore will be required to complete the mission, with Rs 67,000 crore allocated for FY 2025-26 alone. As a key supplier to the mission, JTL Industries stands to benefit greatly from these developments. With a strong history of delivering high-quality GI pipes for water infrastructure projects, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on the government’s increased focus on quality, sustainability, and long-term water security.
“The extension of JJM opens up considerable opportunities, and with our proven track record as a reliable supplier to the government, JTL is well-equipped to support its next phase,” the company stated. The Union Budget for 2025-26 has allocated Rs 67,000 crore for JJM, marking a significant rise from the revised Rs 22,694 crore for 2024-25. The coverage of the program has also been expanded.
