JSW Steel reported consolidated crude steel production of 7.48 million tonnes for the third quarter of FY26, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 6 percent. Production levels during the quarter were impacted by the shutdown of Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at the company’s Vijayanagar plant, which has been offline since the end of September 2025 for capacity expansion and is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of Q4 FY26.

As a result of the shutdown, capacity utilisation at Indian operations stood at approximately 93 percent when excluding BF3 capacity and 85 percent when including it for Q3 FY26. The Vijayanagar facility remains the largest single-location steel manufacturing site in India, with a current installed capacity of 17.5 million tonnes per annum.

JSW Steel is the flagship company of the diversified US$23 billion JSW Group, which has business interests across energy, infrastructure, cement, paints, real estate, digital platforms, mobility, defence, sports, and venture capital. Over the past three decades, JSW Steel has expanded from a single manufacturing unit to an integrated steel producer with a consolidated crude steel capacity of 35.7 million tonnes per annum, including 1.5 million tonnes in the United States. Domestic capacity stands at 34.2 million tonnes per annum, with plans to increase consolidated capacity to 43.4 million tonnes over the next three years.

The company maintains a focus on technology and product development through its strategic collaboration with JFE Steel of Japan, supporting the production of value-added and special steel products used across construction, infrastructure, automotive, electrical, and consumer goods sectors. JSW Steel has also received multiple recognitions for business performance and sustainability, including repeated recognition by the World Steel Association as a Steel Sustainability Champion and inclusion in global sustainability indices.

JSW Steel has set emission reduction targets aligned with India’s climate commitments under the Paris Agreement, including a 42 percent reduction in CO₂ emissions from steelmaking operations by 2030 and net carbon neutrality for direct operations by 2050. The company also aims to transition to renewable energy for all steelmaking operations by 2030, alongside goals related to biodiversity protection, air quality improvement, water conservation, and zero liquid discharge. JSW Steel has further been recognised for workplace practices, earning certifications and rankings for employee culture, health, and wellness in recent years.
