JSW Steel Ltd announced a significant decline in its profit for the third quarter of the fiscal year, reporting Rs 719 crore, a 70.65% drop compared to Rs 2,450 crore during the same period last year. The company’s revenue from operations stood at Rs 41,378 crore, marking a slight decrease of 1.34% from Rs 41,940 crore in Q3 FY24.

The company’s EBITDA for the quarter was Rs 5,579 crore, up 3% compared to the previous quarter, as a fall in steel prices was offset by increased production volumes and reduced costs, particularly in coking coal. JSW Steel achieved consolidated crude steel production of 7.03 million tonnes, representing a 2% year-on-year growth and a 4% increase from the previous quarter. The company’s domestic steel sales reached a record high of 5.99 million tonnes, reflecting an 8% quarter-on-quarter and 14% year-on-year growth, driven by strong institutional and retail demand. Exports made up 8% of total sales, up from 7% in Q2 FY25.

The operating EBITDA for JSW Steel’s India operations was Rs 5,564 crore, down 20% from last year, while EBITDA per tonne was Rs 8,516, with a margin of 14.1%. Profit from these operations dropped 57% year-on-year, standing at Rs 1,091 crore.

For Bhushan Power & Steel (BPSL), crude steel production for the quarter was 0.96 million tonnes, with finished steel sales of 0.88 million tonnes. Revenue from operations was Rs 5,340 crore, and EBITDA rose by 25% quarter-on-quarter, driven by higher volumes and lower coking coal costs, though partially offset by lower sales prices.

JSW Steel Coated Products reported a production and sales volume of 1.15 million tonnes, with a revenue of Rs 8,600 crore and EBITDA of Rs 496 crore. Profit for the segment was Rs 170 crore for the quarter. JSW Steel USA’s Ohio facility produced 231,872 net tonnes of slabs, with a capacity utilization rate of 64%.
